Re: Bees invade a cop car.

Kinda funny that the cop was afraid to get out of his car but the beekeepers that came to help weren't wearing gloves. How aggressive was this swarm really. News coverage can be so questionable.

Re: keeping hives warm in the winter?

Nate, I am also in cold, old, Massachusetts. My understanding of bees and chickens (I have both) is that it isn't the cold that gets them it is the condensation that drips on them and sticks to...

Re: What do I do with the frames?

Most folks don't consider BT to be a "chemical" as it is actually some kind of bacteria that attacks wax moth larvae but not honeybees. It is about as natural a solution as you can find. Freezing...

Re: Crossover comb like crazy. Why is that wrong?

    Mig,
I too have a let the bees be attitude - but I still like to be able to get in there, see what's what, and use an extractor (when I am lucky). I love foundationless, especially in the honey...

    Re: Sweating around my eyes.

Re: Wow.... am I messed up?

My bees are messed up too. It all started with some frames that had some damage to the foundation to start. they took that to mean they could do as they wish. I mostly let them do as they please. ...

I imagine the proper beespace is the same in any equipment. could you get a tool for putting 9 in a ten frame body and either cut it down or grind of the ends to create the tool you need? then you...

    Re: Would this work?

Yes, I see. but in my case I need to replace the deeps with mediums. if it were the other way I could just let the girls add to the medium frames at the bottoms. This may tricker than I thought.
