    Re: here's a question for everyone ...........

Some of my strongest hives are from swarms, if the price is right I would buy them. But it would have to be "right." I would not pay over 50 bucks for a large swarm.

    Re: Salvageable?

When I have stuff like that I make up a "bait hive" to catch swarms. If no swarms, and the wax moths get to it I haven't lost that much.

    Re: splitting....too soon?

Well I am just one county over "Wayne County" and my main concern in Feb. and early March is making sure they have enough feed. As you well know we always have a cold snap just when you think spring...
  4. Re: 10 Gallon Iced Tea Dispenser for Bottling Tank?

No I didnt, thanks. With shipping it would cost me about $200.00. Will give that some consideration.
  5. 10 Gallon Iced Tea Dispenser for Bottling Tank?

After pricing bottling tanks, I was thinking this may do just as well. $150.00 dollars I found on the net. Only concern is the valve being large enough for the honey to flow out. Thoughts? Same...

Re: feeding honey and uncapping questions

Is the feeder made so the bees have access to all of the feed or is it the type that has a screen? If you mix the cappings with a small amount of honey they will clean the cappings and take the...

    Re: What to do now?

You want honey and you want to split, can't have both. Decide if you want spring honey or fall honey. If you want spring honey add suppers when needed forget the split until after the flow. (queens...

    Re: Reviving a flagging colony

Watch for pests or robbers in the supper, with that small number of bees there is not any protection. May want to reduce it or put into a nuc until they can build back up or until you can get a...

Re: what is the prefered extraction method?

Trying to figure your hive set-up as I am reading your question. I assume you have two deeps per hive and either two mediums or two shallows on top of those. If that is the case I assume you would...

    Re: What is this?

I guess I would classify nosema as bee diarrhea, it is normally a more "splattered" type. That poop has a lot of consistency in it to me, maybe someone else will post with more knowledge on the...

    Re: What is this?

My first thought was "where are the bees?" if there is that much poop around the hive there should be some bees flying around. Doesn't look like nosema to me, my guess is you have another rather...
