Wooden ware from laying worker hive

I started the season with two hives. One is doing great. The second swarmed a couple times. I caught one of the after swarms and waited for the parent hive to requeen. Well, the swarm hive has...

Re: Growing trees inside your house?

They will grow to a foot pretty quickly. My maple sapling came up in the spring last year and by the time fall hit it was a,ready over 3' tall.

I watched the slides how presentation on that site...

Re: When can I look inside.

Cute little hive. I like the flowers. :)

They are just hanging out and wash boarding. It is just a thing bees do.

Re: Growing trees inside your house?

I have a maple seedling that volunteered in my landscape bedding last spring. In just over a year it is 10' tall. You would have trouble keeping something like that inside. Now... I don't know the...

    New queen or laying worker?

I have a hive that swarmed. The last queen cell in the hive hatched about July 5th, I believe. I checked on July 17th and there were no eggs. I checked today, the 24th, and saw eggs and open brood....
  7. Re: Nucs only on deep frames, what if I only have medium hive bodies?

I would not want to be starting a nuc right now anyhow. Our flow is ending.

Keep them in mind for next year though if you really want a nuc. :)

Re: What's blooming in southern Ohio??

I think some aster has started blooming too. But I haven't seen any bees in it yet. Though they were all over it last year.

    http://www.honeyrunapiaries.com/package-bees-nucs/nucs/

Honeyrun Apiares sells medium nucs. They shouldn't be more than a couples hours drive from you.

I bought two nucs from them last year....

Re: What's blooming in southern Ohio??

Yes, I meant white clover. It is always what I think of when someone says clover. I don't see much yellow clover around here.

I will certainly take this weather over what we had last year! It has...

Re: What's blooming in southern Ohio??

I have not seen a single honey bee on the milkweed in my yard. Every other flying creature in the world is there, but no honey bees.

I guess they are still busy in the clover. I have 3 acres that...

Re: What's blooming in southern Ohio??

I was wondering that myself. They are still in the clover a lot at my house. Though like you said, it is starting to fade.

I did see them bringing in some light yellow pollen. I am not sure where...

    Backfilling brood nest after swarm

I had a hive swarm a few days ago. Then an after swarm today.

So I went I and cut out the rest of the queen cells. All except one. There were four opened cells and five or six that were still...

    Re: After swarm worry?

Ben, I really hope it was a feral swarm. The hive doesn't seem that light. But the swarm was in a tree only about 30' from my hives.

J, thanks. There are queen cells in my hive. They should be...

    Lawn maintanence around hive?
