Re: My smoking experiment - a fluke?

Have 4 hives and don't smoke them, it's been 3 going on 4 years and no problem. Bear knocked over two and we had to put them back together. They were fine with us doing that. No stings no head...

    Re: Thoughts on Open Feeding?

Last year after extracting supers took them about 50 yards from hives including the extracter and there was no fighting cleaning up everything and no robbing at hives. There's a video about open...

Re: Brush, fume board, or bee escape?

Usually pull frames one by one brush off the bees and put frames in large cooler draped over with damp towel to keep them from getting back on. Never been stung, never smoked them.

    Re: Gotta love spring

I'm so glad we didn't have to order bees this year. Worst hiving weather I've seen. Sad to think of the brand new bee keepers having to try to get started in these conditions.

Re: can you go in your hives too much?

That's interesting, because unless it's a root canal I never have novacaine. And we only use one puff of smoke at entrance - never have problem with irate bees. Must be the weather up here that...

Re: can you go in your hives too much?

Dot know if it's true or not but I've heard it sets them back about 3 days every time you go in. We've prob been in our 5 hives 3 maybe 4 times since spring. There all doing great.

Re: Bees Throwing Themselves Out Of The Hive?

We have had some wandering around on the ground but on close inspection their wings were just shredded. Poor things must have flown their little hearts out. Monty
