    Re: DWF - reusing equipment?

I saw dozens of bees with deformed wings. The Queen is there and still active, but I'm worried its late in the season to be treating for mites and still have them in shape for winter.

    I will...

    DWF - reusing equipment?

I have an older hive that went from appearing fine to lots of DWV in a matter of 2 or three weeks. Although I threw in Apivar, I think its too late. I do not think it is going to make it through...

    Re: Will mature queen pipe?

I have a split raising its own queen and have heard piping now going on 7 days (the 'quacking' replies stopped after about the 3rd day). Does this mean she still hasn't gone on her mating flights?

    Piping and Quacking

A hive with swarm cells and the old queen gone started piping and quacking. This has been going on for 5 days now. I thought is was something the first hatched queen did to locate the others. Does...

    Moving and returning Nucs

I opened my strongest hive and found so many queen cells that I made 3 nucs with frames full of bees from the mother hive. Worried that the bees would all return to the original hive, I took the...

    Queen released from queen cell?

I put a frame with capped queen cells into a Nuc box and waited. When I went back in, one of the queen cells was neatly opened, one chewed through and two were still capped. Thinking a queen had...

Tried the new Betterbee Pollen Trap?

Has anyone tried the new Betterbee pollen trap? The pictures make it look a lot like the Sundance bottom mounted trap - I'd be interested in any reviews/recommendations.
    Thanks

Thanks everyone. An old time local tells me it's black locust. I intend to do all the culinary things everyone has suggested.

    Dense honey?

I took a few supers off and extracted a couple of days ago - very early in this part of the country. The honey is almost water white and extra sweet - but DENSE. Refractometer read 15 - 16% and the...

I agree about not recommending The Last Beekeeper - it does presume you know a lot about beekeeping - and it is VERY depressing (watching adults cry is never fun). The focus is more on beekeepers...

    Re: Maxant 20 frame

If you're in a rush to finish the draining, try using a squeegie while it's tilted. I found a shower one at Bed Bath & Beyond that is easy to clean silicone and fits 5 gal buckets perfectly too.
