    Localharvest.org

    Hello,

Does anyone use localharvest.org to sell their honey? If so, how are sales going?

For those that live in Ohio, does selling on Localharvest require an Ohio packaging/food processing...
  5. Re: Pulling Honey Supers after a rain and when to extract

    Hello,

The bee club I belong to did moisture testing last night for any members that wanted to have their honey tested. Mine tested at 17.4%.
  6. Re: Pulling Honey Supers after a rain and when to extract

A refractometer is a good thing to have. I do have one, but it is currently in several bits as it took a nice fall.

Honey was 95-100% capped, closer to 100%. I think things went well, just worried...
  7. Pulling Honey Supers after a rain and when to extract

    Hello,

It has been raining for the last couple of days. My plan was to pull honey supers this weekend and extract.

I have access to a garage that will have a dehumidifier running.

    Will it be...
  8. Re: Hopguard receives sectionon 18 emergency approval in Maine

I would say that it is regulated because it is a chemical used inside the beehive with the potential to contaminate honey (a pure food consumed by humans).

    Re: Pigeon Mountain issue

My order has now been completed. I arrived home a several minutes ago to find a package on the porch. Inside was my daughters bee suit. I would say they just got a supply of suits in.

    Re: Pigeon Mountain issue

I ordered a suit for myself and one for my daughter. I placed my order on 4-23-2012. My suit did not ship until 6-8-2012. I have been told as of last week (7-26) my daughter's suit is back ordered...

Re: "I have honey bees that need to be removed"

    Hello,

I got a call today about a house in Lima, Ohio that has bees in a second story wall. The home is located on West Market Street. Send me a pm for more information. The home is currently not...

Re: Doing some extractor research.... :)

I just got a Maxant 3100H. The frames fit well, but are a tight fit. Any blob of propolis on the frames can make it a bit difficult to get the frame to seat properly into the bottom of the extractor.

Re: Honey Prices in your part?

Just a reminder: Honey is sold by weight, not volume. There is a difference between ounces and fluid ounces.

    Re: Fencing veil failure

When I first bought my hat and veil I read as much as I could about what people liked. I passed on the fencing veil because the bees could sit right on your head and sting through the top.

Re: 9 frame extractors Maxant vs Dadant vs ?

The brushy mountain 9 frame radial looks to be very nice as well. I did look at it, but the Made in U.S.A of the Maxant 3100H did pull my towards it. I believe the 9 frame from Brushy Mountain is...

Re: 9 frame extractors Maxant vs Dadant vs ?

Well, after a long debate, I ordered the Maxant 3100H. I was going to go with a small 2 or 3 frame unit, but with my new plans on having more hives than I currently do, I would have been extracting...

Re: First swarm; didn't go well.

It is always nice to have someone call you about getting some bees, then they decide to chase them off or spray them before you get there. The bees probably left after he started the fire.
