    i've never gone on a swarm call that potentially has someone on the way. I would tell the caller to call me back if no one showed up. I typically leave as soon as i can load my supplies in my truck....

    got a call for a swarm yesterday, woman said it was 20-30' up in a tree and had been there for 4 days. Her husband had a ladder that could reach up to it. I thru a rope around a small branch above it...

    I had the state inspector out on Wednesday, she sent some samples to Beltsville. she said the small brown larva were chilled brood. for some reason, the population has really decreased in 2 weeks....

    in the first pic, the young dead brood are black. and some of the white brood in pics 2 and 3 look dead and stretched out

    might also be mason bees. they like to use holes in wood left by other insects to lay their eggs. they look a lot like honeybees, a little smaller and very docile
