    No, they do not fly out when it is cold. They can feel the cold air in the tubing and stop. Also, when it is real cold, I block the outside entrance to keep some of the cold air from coming in.

    Staghorn Sumac grows where I am. Bees are all over it in the AM when it blooms. It is my understanding that it produces nectar in the AM, and decreases as the day goes on.

    Yes, my soil is acidic. I spread lime all over the area where I planted the sainfoin. I got the PH up to 6.5 - 7.0 before planting it. It is possible that the lime leached out.
