Re: Colony update here in Pa

Re: How many hives is too many hives?

@Jim I totally agree with you about how far they go on a productive flow and the limiting factor of capacity that can be carried and energy consumed gathering it.

Re: How many hives is too many hives?

Not trying to say they would make anything extra if they go that far for forage but they will go that far. But as to how I know they will fly that far. I have yards that are that far apart as the bee...

  9. Re: Your probably not a hobbiest if you have this many hives

@Ralph: We keep 400 t0 500 to a yard in season when not feeding and even more if we are going to feed heavy out of barrels. Not all areas can do that but it is not and issue, it will force them to go...

  15. Re: Bobcat with forklift mast, or without, vs Hummerbee!!!!!!!!

@ Kingfisher Track to wheeled is a huge difference. We have both and you only want a track unit if you are getting into sand or mud other than that it is a ruff ride and the bees hate it.

    Re: Bee stash?

Don't forget to shave all facial hair. Those I have talked to that have done it say if you don't they will pull at it and get stuck then sting. And that would not be good with 3# of bees on your face.
