The bees I got have been drawing small cell very well, and appeared to be much smaller than the bees in other packages I have gotten. I have also regressed 2 hives to SC and they are not drawing out...
Ken at Buckeye Bee has good SC packages. I bought 3 of them this year. I have never had any problems with them.

The rep stated it wasn't a big mover. Perhaps the warnings scared everyone off, or like you said - mabye the manufacturer was a little greedy.
I just got off the phone with Dadant, and the sales rep said they are out of SC plastic and are debating whether to continue carrying it any longer.
The New World Carniolans have my vote, esp for this region. I'm right outside of Charlottesville VA.

Well I am attempting to keep a few hives from swarming, and am trying the demaree method - less the supers inbetween the deeps. I have moved all brood, and drawn frames on top of another brood box...
What is everyone out there charging per hive for a pollination fee? I am in the mideast.
Thanks,

I use a Merril toolbox from Brushy Mt. and love it. You can cary five frames in it in a pinch, a swarm, lots of tools, and a smoker. I like that all of the essential tools go on the outside of the...
Michael,
You are correct. My observations are unlike the observations of Dennis. The bees that were small cell packages have no problems drawing the small cell. In fact they are extremely...
Well,
This year I started 3 small cell hives from Buckeye Bee on 4.9 wax foundation, in standard hive bodies. The bees have been drawing out the foundation in a very uniform manner. Upon...
I have not heard of it before. Can someone share the methodology?
Thanks,

Does anyone know where I can pick up a couple of extra springs for my Ross Rounds Supers? Also, does the follower board that is inserted in front of the springs have to extend the full length of the...
I would look at the dewalt portable table saw. Its a nice unit.

You could just use a salad spinner to spin cappings. They are available pretty cheaply. You couldn't do a lot of cappings, but it would work for a smaller operation.

I ordered 3 packages of small cell Italians from Buckeye Bee this year. I also ordered a couple NWC queens to requeen these packages with (I couldn't find NWC packages anywhere). My first question...
I would go with the standard Langstroth hives, and the DE mod kit. You get the best of both worlds.
Chris
I have read the book, "The Queen Must Die". It's pretty good although somewhat anthropomorphic.

I have a Golden Retriever, Jack Russell, and a Red Bone Hound. The best has to be the redbone. She has very short hair, is low key, great with kids, and eager to please.
When you guys assemble supers do they have any wobble to them? Mabye 1/4 to 1/8" worth" All of my deeps were purchased from Dadant, and I have been putting them together and was not sure if this...
I checked out my one hive today because they were out flying. My only hive at the moment is a DE hive, and I am using 3 deeps. I found the queen, and there was lots of honey to spare, probably 12...
We had literally millions of them on our house this fall. The house was covered with them, and there were probably 5 or 6 of these "ladybugs" every square inch. It was very anoying. I don't know if...
It does sometimes split a little on one side of the groove or the other (of the bottom bar - never the side bars), but rarely on both sides of the groove. If it does split, I pack the end of the...
How does everyone attach the bottom bar? I have the dadant grooved bottom bars, and I have been nailing them on using a brad nailer, through the sides of the sidebars, into the bottom bars. Is this...
Done.
