  3. Re: queen cell time from capped to hatching

queen cells are typically capped on day 5. So in five more days from being capped I would normally place mine in nucs on day 10. Won't be long after that till hatching which can vary with warmer...

I set up a starter finisher a few days ago. Added a frame of eggs on that day to get nurse bees in the mood. Graft day tomorrow. All cells will be destroyed. The frame with the eggs will be...

Re: How many people use queen excluders ?

Never liked them much for liquid honey production. But they have there place for cut comb and queen rearing. Think everyone should have a few at least.

    Nicot Replacement Parts

Just dug out my nicot queenrearing stuff. Haven't used it in like 8 yrs. Can't find the covers to the grid. Is there any place that sells just parts or should I just get a new grid?
  9. Re: Making mini packages for stocking nucs

When I make up my wintering nucs I usually use one deep frame of brood and one frame of honey. Any stronger than this I have absconding issues within a month if I can't get back to super or split...
  10. Making mini packages for stocking nucs

Have a tbh I want to use to shake bees off to stock 4 frame nucs. The combs are pretty close to a Lang deep frame. Any idea on how many frames of bees needed to stock these 4 frame nucs?

I'm trying to figure this out. Since when did feeding sugar become a treatment? I think people are confusing organic standards with TF. Feeding honey from the store as advocated by some could...

    Re: Divided Deep Dimension Questions

Mike uses the equivalent of nine frame spacing. It doesn't carry over into the 4 frame supers however. When I divide my boxes I use 2X boards instead of 3/4" divider. This gives you proper 10...

Re: Palmer Nucs vs. Deep 10 Frame

I make mine into triple deeps.

I would wait for drones if your going to raise queens. Or you could buy queens and split earlier.

    Re: dark queen ??

Looks like carniolan mutt to me. If you look at the workers you have a pretty good mix of dark and yellow workers so you have probably a 50/50 chance of either color if you raised queens from her.

It is a useful manipulation. You can use it on colonies that have good traits but aren't quite ready to be TF cold turkey so to speak.
