Re: What a difference 2 weeks makes

you said hive 2 has a newer queen, she's just getting started, give her another week to practice, then if pattern still looks sparse, I'd think about replacing her, but that's what I'd do.

Re: Can you change a swarms mind?

Read some articles from Tom Sealy PhD. he has done numerous studies on how a swarm decides on it's bivouac site and it's future home site, it's all done by scouts agreeing on which site to go for.
  8. Re: First hive inspections of nuc and package. few questions.

save the pollen patties for the dearth or fall, bees don't need them when they have pollen, you didn't mention if the package is on foundation, they will need fed as long as they take it for drawing...

Re: Is there is a queen in a secondary swarm?

yea, you could start a nuc if you can get a box, or a queen castle, just remove the queen cells without damaging them, and you wont probably see a queen in the hive, it's going to be a virgin, (much...

Re: HELP! Capped Queen Cells- what to do?

First off yes, I'd split them, you can take the queen and put her in a 5 frame nuc with brood and honey/pollen and let the queen cells hatch out and the fittest survives, or you could take the queen...
