  1. Re: Frustrated Beginner. Lost my hives again

How often were you doing inspections? I tend to think this was not entirely your fault so don't give up one the bees just yet. This was a tough year for the bees out your way.

    Re: Cut-Out with Q Cells

I think that is what I'll do. I'm like 90% sure these were/are russians. I would like to get the local genetics as there is quite a few feral hives in the vicinity of the yard this colony is in,...

    Cut-Out with Q Cells

I did a cut out about a week ago. I know I got the queen, but today I did an inspection and the queen is gone. There are however 7-9 queen cells in the center of the cut out frames. My guess is...

    Re: Possible Queenless Cut-Out Colony

Well, I definitely got the queen. She is now laying like crazy. I still have not seen her, but she has eggs and young larvae spread over the brood nest.

    Thanks for the advise.

    Possible Queenless Cut-Out Colony

I did a cut out of a colony in ceiling last Wednesday. I did not see the queen at all during the removal, and there was very little brood (mostly capped, some larvae, no eggs). About 90% of the 14...

I just got a script this year. Never had a bad reaction though. My insurance covered them and I just had a 10 copay per epipen.

If you missed a queen cell they won't accept your new queen.

    Re: Help!!

Sounds like swarming to me. If there is larvae in the cups, you have very little time to split. Usually when they are capped the queen and around half the bees take off.
