    Re: Wasp in hive top.

Soapy water breaks the surface tension and allows the water to drown an insect. The only wasp nests I find are small in early spring. I turn the hive tool sideways and smash her if given the...

Re: Has Seed Coating Changed? CCD gone for Good!

Trusting and defending wiki as for source material and thinly insinuating 6 or 7 armed octopi could be the result of Neonics? I'm having a little fun being just as ludicrous.

    Jonathan's...

Re: Queen present but no brood, what to do?

I found exactly that in one of my hives. I pulled the queen and newspaper combined the broodless colony with a nuc I had on top. I've got an OB hive that went queenless. I added the queen in...

Re: Has Seed Coating Changed? CCD gone for Good!

What are we looking for? Octopi drop their arms like lizards drop their tails. Like lizards it's a defense mechanism and they grow back. Is a predator being looked for or are neonics be insinuated...

Re: Has Seed Coating Changed? CCD gone for Good!

No. Don't be foolish. On wiki it clearly states, "6 armed octopi proves the seed coating has changed".

Re: Has Seed Coating Changed? CCD gone for Good!

The first thing that was posted on this thread was:

Yet, the heading "Has Seed Coating Changed? CCD gone for Good!" clearly insinuates CCD is directly caused by Neonics. Something that's...
  7. Re: Honey sales cycles. Up and downs by the seasons

My experience is skewed as I only sell via an honor stand. But I start at my first harvest July 4th weekend when I open the stand. Sales are insane if the first week. After that peak they...

Re: Has Seed Coating Changed? CCD gone for Good!

Wiki as a quotable source? Now I see the lens through which the humorous quote "The very fact that CCD has not been seen in several year shows that is exists." has to be viewed to appear logical. ...

Re: How do I limit my hives?

Find a local beekeeper you can give your splits or swarms to. It'll happen and they'll be happy as all get out to get them.

Re: UPS Not Delivering BWeaver Packages

I've only gotten a package via USPS once. No problems at all but the folks behind the counter were pretty freaked out by the few hitchhikers. The queens I've received via the USPS have been fine as...

Re: Has Seed Coating Changed? CCD gone for Good!

The 2nd question you asked opened this whole can of worms. The direct implication is seed coating caused CCD. There's simply no proof of that.

Just because there's a CCD forum does not mean CCD...

GMO glowing reindeer noses and Round-up ready Santa's. Proof you never know where threads will lead on Beesource.

Wait, if that's proof and it's been seen recently is that proof that is doesn't...

Re: Has Seed Coating Changed? CCD gone for Good!

Wait a second. What if I accidentally fed them GMO carrots with Neonics? Wholly molly... maybe I weakened the reindeers immunity they weren't able to make it over a mountain pass. Santa could...

Re: Has Seed Coating Changed? CCD gone for Good!

I was told Santa existed by all the people in authority in my life when I was younger. NORAD tracked his movements, the weather people talked about his route. I sent him letters and even got a few...

Re: Has Seed Coating Changed? CCD gone for Good!

It's proven if applied wrong it does cause problems. Heck, just about anything applied wrong can cause problems.

However, if the rest of what you claim had any scientifically accepted and...

    Re: Extractor question.

$1,300 is current cost. It seems reasonable assuming it's in full working order. Is it from someone who got out of beekeeping or outgrew it?
  19. Re: Can you extract capped honey from a deadout for human consumption?

Do you have any bees on order? 70-80 frames means you've got 7-8 supers or deeps depending on what you use. If honey is dripping from the frames there's fermentation occurring. Quilt boxes do...
  20. Re: Can you extract capped honey from a deadout for human consumption?

I wouldn't extract it. I'd leave it and put the frames in on a hive that needs it and they'll consume it. You can extract it but it'll invariably have syrup in it. There's nothing wrong with that...

    Re: SLATTED RACK PLANS

    Re: Dead Out Numbers/Winter Losses

Tough luck, hang in there. 2-3 years back I lost 14 out of 15. What I did was honestly contemplate what I could do to improve things and acted upon it. Make lemonade from this lemon. This year is...
