    Re: AHB Central Texas

Yes, I see no reason to overly fear the AHB . People in Africa work them with top bar hives mostly, and get along just fine....If they can do it, then so can we .After all, they are great honey...

    Re: benign beekeeping?

That is so true---we do NOT need another pro and con debate. Thus far, I have to say that this has been a most congenial disposition. It is good to read such well-written responses with civil tones...

    Re: benign beekeeping?

While I can say I believe in doing as little outright care as possible so as not to disturb my hives, I must say the bees do reap some definite benefits from being taken care of. They do not starve...

Re: Are the cheap beesuits on ebay worth it?

Pigeon Mountain makes an inexpensive jacket that works well for me....Comes with hood and veil and elasticized wrist and waist. So far , it has been comfortable for me in low 90's heat.

Re: Ant problem. How to get rid of them.

I'd track the ants back to their nest , and kill them there with Amdro. That way , you can eradicate them and ease the problem.

Lemon grass oil and sage mixture

Yesterday, the scent shop had no pure LGO, but had a mixture of LGO and sage. I know that the bees like sage, so I am hoping this will work as a lure....Your thoughts?

Tested queens would be the best route, but I would think that the performance of the young queens would be evident in the condition of the nucs they are in. Laying amounts and brood patterns would be...
