I've tried that in the past, and got tired feeding my neighbor's bees. Plus I found that open feeding increases their tendency to rob.
Cloake board partition, mating nuc dividers, mite drop boards, nuc bottom adjustable vent, weather proof hive notes (pin to outside of hive), follower boards.....
And I am a VERY good citizen ;)

I know this is statistically insignificant, but I have 20 hives, 2 which have had these ventilation boxes. Neither have swarmed, came through winters well, and they've been my top producers.
