    Re: Extraction equipment question

You may also want to consider a 5 gallon paint filter bag from Lowes home improvement. IT does a great job of getting all the bee parts and wax bits out.

    Re: Robbing Problem

The robbers smell the stores that they are getting, I have used Vicks vapor rub to mask the smell. It may not work in this case since they have been at it for a long time but it may be worth a try.

The bees will raise as many drones as they think they need. I would open a few drone cells just to look for mites on the pupae but not necessary. When they build drone cells on the bottom of...

Re: Couldn't get frames all pushed together.

    Steven,
You should get the frames pushed all the way back together and then split the space evenly between the two outside frames. You had the right idea about using smoke that will move them but...

  16. Re: styrofoam chunks used as floats in bucket feeder

    mhorowit,
No idea if it affects the bees or not. But you could put a piece of burlap over the styrofoam chunks. THe burlap will wick up the syrup and the bees can walk on it easly.

I have had the queen shut down laying during and for a while after treatment with Apiguard.
I would suggest you complete the treatment, the queen should start laying again before winter.
