  3. Re: Zom-bees? Weak hive turns bizarre...couple questions.

I wish I had some experience with nucs, but unfortunately, I do not.

So, as of now, I've taken the syrup out and as it's starting to get dark, they are starting to calm down and go inside for...
  4. Re: Zom-bees? Weak hive turns bizarre...couple questions.

After a bit of watching today, my husband noticed that the would-be robbers are coming from the neighboring hive (my healthy one). Of course.

We removed the entrance feeder and reduced the...

Thanks guys. :) I appreciate the advice very much.

@Oldtimer - No, she is not the original queen. That one was dead in her cage and hadn't even been attempted to get chewed out. Her...
  6. Re: Zom-bees? Weak hive turns bizarre...couple questions.

I do, indeed plan on doing this, but figured I wouldn't get into both hives until the apivar arrives next week so that I can treat and switch at the same time... bad idea?

    And, can I leave the...
  7. Re: Zom-bees? Weak hive turns bizarre...couple questions.

Okay...here's a ton of pics. Essentially each side of the frames that have anything on them we took a picture of. I don't seem to have any of the foulbrood symptoms that I read about. No foul...

  9. Zom-bees? Weak hive turns bizarre...couple questions.

So, I've posted a couple times about my two hives. One is excellent the other...not so much. They are still in their first brood box (installed in May) and have maybe 5 frames with anything on them...
  10. Re: I shook the bees off these frames... I'm thinking this is bad!!

I may be having the same thing going on. I just noticed tonight when I checked on them (we have a camera on them so I can admire them from work :)) They are clustered just outside the opening. ...

Thanks for the advice. I seem to be leaning towards the wood frames myself. I have one hive with all plastic frames and the other with wood frames and plastic foundation so I could compare the two....

    Funky Comb

While inspecting my hives over the weekend, I noticed some funky comb. Any burr comb I scraped off but this is built on the foundation. The queen was actively laying eggs and I saw lots of eggs in...
  14. Re: First inspections of two hives... one good, one very bad... YIKES!

We did a quick hive check this past Saturday to make sure the new queen was doing alright. She was almost out of the cage and in the meantime, the girls had been super busy drawing out comb. (She...
  15. Re: First inspections of two hives... one good, one very bad... YIKES!

Update: New queen got here this morning and they were eager to greet her. They've been more active today than I have seen them in the last week. Hope all goes well.

Is Hive Tracks completely web based or is there a phone app as well? (I'm unable to find it on my android.)
