    Re: success!

Bee vac isn't rocket science. Too much section open your adjustment screen. It takes almost no suction to get the bees in the hose.

Re: Honey price in your area

I hear a whole lot of people leaving money on the table. :)
  3. Re: Just curious as to why my latest removal video was deleted

Why moved to video forum? There are tons of videos posted in all the forums and they don't get moved to a rarely visited corner of the forum...?

    Re: stop swarm

The idea is to split the original queen out so you don't lose her. Problem is I have had a couple still swarm after doing this... Probably because they were so close to leaving anyway. I wish I'd...

    Re: stop swarm

About the only way to stop them is to swarm for them.

OP, is there anything in the cups? If there isn't eggs or larva there's nothing to worry about. Empty cups are normal.

Hope they can keep it going! They ought to sense the certain doom and lay their brains out. :)

  7. Re: Just curious as to why my latest removal video was deleted

Let's face it... there's a few rules here that make absolutely zero sense. It's not 1994 with everyone on dial-up.

I guess it's play by the rules, though. I do like it here. :P

Re: oh great, a swarm on August 27

I've got some ding dong hives that have swarmed the last couple weeks as well. Frustrating. Not acceptable up this far, let alone Wisconsin.

Re: Honey price in your area

In whoever is selling that honey's defense, a gallon of milk is $8 at Kroger.

    Re: need some advice..

I was going to say something similar. My dad would have hopped in the truck and let me figure out how to get home on my own if I were speaking to him like that.

I should have just waited until morning. Should have known better. Live an learn I guess. They were happy to see their old queen when I placed her on the top bars. She should be out in a few...

You yelped and ran away when you got stung. And on multiple occasions you turnes and faced the camera trying to get honey or stingers out of you gloves. Or flinging stuff off. Just watch the...

Re: Requeening with a ripe cell

Pulled queen and put three cells in within a few minues of pulling her.
They tore them all down when checking today as best I could tell. They'd started 10 cells or so. Tore them down and gave...

Part 3 turned into the sawzall show there for awhile, then lights out. I love the part where you say to your dad "Well, they're getting (you know, p-word)!"

Gotta work on your reaction to stings. Thank God you weren't 30 feet up. And the constant swatting around and flicking of your hands is a terrible habit! Not done with 3rd part yet, didnt you go...

Billboard, grow your own bees. Then you don't have to worry about nuc prices except when you need to sell some ;)
  21. Re: Warning: Some of these images may be disturbing to younger, more sensitive viewer

A couple hundred drones isn't a small amount? The comb was a deck of cards sized drone patch with worker sized cells around it. It's small amount compared to what most colonies raised this spring. ...
  22. Re: Re-queening in Fall: how late is too late?

Depends if the hive is strong. A lateral shift of laying queen to another in a week shouldn't be too big of a deal. But expecting a queen to "turn it around" or build their strength... Probably not...

Re: To glue or not to glue?

    Fetustician,
A "thick layer" of dead bees isn't normal for any time other than maybe the first time you open it in spring if they haven't had enough warm weather to clean things up.

For whatever reason you'll not typically hear that much "against" foundationless here. Somewhat of an echo chamber effect coupled with the fact that if you're considering it, you've probably already...
