    Re: Funny looking Queen

It's amazing how hard she was to find, my eyes are not at all used to finding such a dark queen. I have standard Italian queens but nothing this dark.
I marked her just for fun and so she's easy too...

    Re: Funny looking Queen

No she wasn't marked, I was going thru marking newly returned queens. The recommended Florida Best Management Practices is to requeen all swarms. I'm not interested in queens from an unknown source....

  11. Re: Is there any down side to placing an empty nuc next to established hives?

Your success rate filling up empty equipment will go up dramatically if you place your "swarm traps" in places that would be very inconvenient to have a swarm. Examples In bed of pickup, in open...

    Re: queen how long?

Placed in a dark reasonably cool place (70-75 ish), I've not noticed an issue keeping them for a few days. I've only stored caged queens in battery boxes stocked with plenty of nurse bees like this...

    Re: Mann Lake Woodware

There are a couple beekeepers here that use them nearly exclusively. Brood and honey. Seems like a perfect compromise.
