  1. Re: great new Opportunity need advice on capitalization?

I hear you Challenger. It is quite a beg, borrow and steal culture we have become. In my area the farmer that has the most debt is looked at by the other farmers that are in debt as if he were the...
  2. Re: great new Opportunity need advice on capitalization?

The OP wanted to know where to get money for his project.
Do like the rest of us and work hard, save up your money. Rent some dry corners and seed some test plots. Then the proof will be there for...

    Re: Canola picture

The new RR canola doesn't seem to put out as much nectar as the polish canola that used to be grown here but it is still a monster crop. The bees love it. I have never had it crystallize in the comb...

    Re: Canola picture

The bloom lasts a couple weeks then the bees work some alfalfa and then we crack out the cyanide and thin the herd. Just kidding. After the alfalfa it's pretty much over for nectar here.

  9. Re: great new Opportunity need advice on capitalization?

I find it interesting that the ones that don't own the land often have the big ideas how to make things better. I can only assume its because they have the extra time on their hands.

Ok, I'll bite. What was the name of the 4500 head cattle ranch you worked on?

Re: Hello from the Okanagan Valley

Welcome. Any tourists over your way? Any heat yet? For those of you that don't know the valley, it is one of the most beautiful places in Canada.
  17. Re: Starting up in British Columbia, business number? taxes? claiming expenses?

You won't get your gst back without a number. I would assume you wouldn't burn enough dyed fuel to save much. In Alberta we only save on the federal taxes on the fuel.
  18. Re: Starting up in British Columbia, business number? taxes? claiming expenses?

Quick answer, go find a decent sized farmer near you and ask for the accountants name. An accountant that does farm taxes is critical and will have all of your answers. First step probably get a...
