  1. Re: New Nucs; with all the dandilions, should we still feed?

Sure, you could still feed, 1:1 sugar to water.
Feeding usually speeds up the drawing of new comb, which is a good thing if
there is not any. It's also helpful during long rainy spells when they...

Re: Extractor-less honey by Flow Hive

You are way over your head again; and again you don't know it!
You can not begin to fathom the workings of a commercial operation by drawing on your experience with 3 backyard hives.
    Care to tell...

Re: Extractor-less honey by Flow Hive

I'm sure that any dairy farmer with any size herd of milkers knew that hand milking was a limiting factor in increasing the herd size.
The milking machine filled a need and allowed herd growth. The...

    Re: Swarm behavior

    Sounds like it to me.
When the queen is with the swarm in the capture box the bees scent on the box to call over the lost and straggler bees, not take flight
out of the box. I've had them march...
  6. Re: Found capped queen cells, don't know if my queen is AWOL.

Many stayed as close as possible to the smelly armpit of the local beekeeper with the most experience that needed help and did

  7. Re: Found capped queen cells, don't know if my queen is AWOL.

Hey big G, that queen sure laid up those frames eh?
If the daughters even come close they'd be good ones!

  8. Re: Found capped queen cells, don't know if my queen is AWOL.

I think your manipulation today is a sound one.

My guess is that there is a young queen or two in that big hive judging by all those swarm cells in your photos that seemed emerged a week ago.

    I...

Re: do I need to act?

don't worry about it. enjoy your camping trip.
the bees can't get in anything anyway.
and the chance for rob outs is very low, there is still plenty of forage.

don't eat to many of those ...
