    Re: Creative Marketing

Just goes to show that people will buy anything or there's a fool born every minute. I guess in this case both apply :-)

Re: TF For 5 Seasons of More - Please Stand Up

My experience is unique apparently. I have a hive that has been passed down twice now. My father got them from his older brother several years ago(at least 10) and I received them 2 years ago. The...
  3. Re: Brood nest on the edges of the hive not in the middle? Should I do anything?

    Right on the money.
  4. Re: are you wondering if they are still alive inside?

I tap the hive once. Once is enough. The bees will roar and then you'll know. The louder the roar the bigger the cluster.
  5. Re: What are your thoughts on using medium supers exclusively?

I decided on all mediums for all the reasons mentioned already. AFAIK the bees don't care, at least they haven't said so yet ;-)

    Re: Bees are angry

I would recommend getting those old stingers out at least. If it's dirty/smelly it won't hurt to wash it. But let it air dry if the hood/veil is 1 piece.
I use smoke and find the aim-a-flame type...

Re: Folks in Europe are getting on with it

I agree. Our policies governing chemicals are opposite Europe's.
Where they say to chemical companies "prove it is safe" - those same Companies say to us "prove it is unsafe". Which I believe is...

    Re: storing honey under broodnest

Stop fighting the bees. You are supposed to help them so they can help you.

Re: Is this a swarm or an after swarm?

Just stick a queen excluder between the box and bottom board so it's impossible for the queen to leave. Assuming no top entrance.

    Re: Sneaky bees

If I am alone I usually smoke and shake my suit before taking any part off. Even then I have had a few hanger ons. Bee careful out there.

    Re: Bee petition

I like that Europeans put the burden of proof on Manufacturers. And are willing to say "We believe your product might be doing damage, so until we have positive proof it doesn't you can't use it"....

Re: Honey Bee colony in a green house!

If the holes in the mesh are large enough to allow the bees to pass through I say give it a try. You certainly can't hurt anything. I agree with others that strictly enclosing them in the green house...
  17. Re: Need help to get bees to go to different water source!!! ASAP

I have heard salt licks or adding salt to water feeders will help keep them away from pools and people. I am still new to all this but I am a voracious reader/watcher of bee related material.
