Hi Welcome Bardstown Here
Man I would requeen for sure. I work my hives in shorts and a tee shirt and have never been stung that many times at once.
Don't get me wrong. I think mountain top removal is horried! I do like the idea to reclaim as much as possible with bee friendly plants.
Wow! That is great! Thanks for sharing.
Welcome! I was raised right next door in Raliegh. I live in KY now. Have fun with the addiction.
My hives are on stands that I built out of scrap deck lumber. I cover the legs with marine grease and the ants don't cross it. I am afraid of ant baits, if the girls take some in a hive you could...
I mow and weedwack around my 5 hives in shorts and a tee shirt without a problem. I am careful to blow the grass away from the hive entrance and I try not to stand right in front of the entrance....
I planted squash last year and the bees loved it.
I planted about a half of acre last year with diffrent types of clover to see how it would do. The red got to high and stalky for me but I liked the yellow and white clover. I think it will do well...
Man I do not think you have a clue how much work is involved. I started 5 new ones last year and it was a lot. Just building frames, boxes painting etc. Building up to 50 or more is not unreasonable...
I just came in from putting my ear up to the hives to listen. I do almost everyday. I can hear them and it is soothing and reassuring to me. A sethoscope would be great!
Thornless locust and crabapple do well for me
I want to have the local high school shop class build some nucs for queen rearing. Does anybody have any drawings.
I looking for the ones that have several openings for queen rearing.
Thanks

Late afternoon early evening is the best. They will settle in quicker and have less drifting.
I live in Bardstown KY area and I am not real happy with the quality of bees I recieved last year. I would just like a source that is not too far to drive. I am mainly looking for NUCs. I would...
Nothing is wrong with Kelly's they give good service. I would like to get some Russian Nucs that do not offer plus I did have a couple of queens last year that didn't do very well, Maybe just bad luck
I live in Bardstown KY area and I am not real happy with the Quality of bees I recieved form Kelly's last year. Don't get me wrong I love Kelly's I would just like another source that is not too far...
Bynadryl will help
My wife found some bags of Baskin Robbins Simple Syrup at a food thrift store. They are 46 oz pouches that look like they would be perfect to lay on the inner cover and makes some slits to feed. I...
You can make a easy one with a few bales of straw stacked on one another.
I have 4 hives 3 Italian, and 1 feral swarm I caught (very dark, the queen is almost solid black) . Anyway I want to add another hive or two in the spring. I am thinking of Russians just to have...
What is the easiest way to dust with powered sugar? I would rather not buy anything.
The two types should be OK. I have combined several different kinds after catching small swarms or other situations similar to yours.
Set the weak deep on top of the stronger one with a sheet of...
