    I discovered yesterday that I have SHB in my top bar hive - this is a new hive started late spring from a package.

    What can I do to help rid of these pests?

    I wouldn't plant honey locust for any reason. Like the above post mentioned black locust is good along with sourwood, linden and koren bee bee if you wanted to plant trees for bees.

    From a quality land management perspective I wouldn't plant the trefoil if were my land. It can be invasive and is resistant to roundup, which becomes problematic if you need to get rid of acres...
