    check your local feed store and ask for "hog rings". the large ones that the co-op here has is just a bit smaller than the hive staples i bought from rossman but would work just as good.

    i'm not sure about the feeder you described but if its made like the hive top feeder you get from rossman apiaries you don't use the inner cover at all while the feeder is on.
