  2. Re: Cells full of "snot" - does that mean there are larvae?

Takes about 3 generations for my gentle queen's daughters to get hot around here, so I know there are some africans somewhere, but generally a good queen, and her offspring, are good for 1.5 to 2...

    Re: survival of individual colonies

I am very fond of the Varroa Sensitive Hygenic Queens I got from a man in East Texas. Unfortunately he had horrible luck with queens this year, lost 59 breeding nucs out of 60 to fire ants, so I only...

Re: confirmed new queen but not laying

order your new queen, when she arrives, squish old queen on front of new queen's cage, then put in hive. The hive I did this with is my one smashing success for the year. No conflict on new queen...

Whatever Ace. I am not a woodworker. I have other skills that are more lucrative. Dadant stuff is fine. My concern is keeping beekeeping from breaking my budget, and making it at least marginally...

Re: How to repel or eradicate nuisance Honeybees?

ok. I keep bees and ponds. In Texas where bees need a LOT of water.

Bees like your pool saltwater and they do not like to drown. So a nice wide bowl with some gravel or pebbles or even aquarium...

    Re: American Foul Brood ?

EFB is more common than AFB and if you do not re-use the cutout's comb, and make the bees draw all new comb from sugar water, you shouldn't have to deal with EFB.

Well I am losing about 67 to 75% of my bees in 2013, and in 2014.
