    I've done a couple of cutouts, and have found that they started at the highest point.
    so look higher at the main rafter support in that wall.

    it is good material not the sheer curtain type .

    I could not believe the quality it is when it arrived today.

    first check to see if the queen is there.
    take the old queen out now. with a couple frames and the bees on them .
    you just start your next hive with that.
    the remainder thinks they just swarmed...

    most run 2 deeps or 3 mediums for just the brood boxes. then the honey supers on top of that.
    if you want to go all mediums the question is do you want 8 frame or 10 frames?

    I agree keep it as a hive.
    If the nuc is strong make a split, or let it grow another couple of weeks depending on flow there.
    that way you will have 2 hives.

    If you are looking for a brood break , you are doing a walk away split anyway.
    why spend money on it, they will produce their own queen for free.

    be sure to start with 2 hives that way you will have the resources, to increase the chances of survivability.
