    Using honey from cut outs

I know I've asked before about using cut out honey. My question is how do you keep the brood out when your doing crush and strain? I'm using cheesecloth and have a capping catcher but when I...

Re: Frames drawn out in one week!

If there are massive amounts of bees I would remove them but normally the girls handle housecleaning in the hive for you.

Frames drawn out in one week!

I'm using a medium super for my honey super and they drew it out from the plastic and are filling it with honey in one week! Is this normal? I guess we have strong nectar flow now!
  6. Re: Did a mite count, got 8-9 in 1 cup of bees! HELP!

  7. Re: Did a mite count, got 8-9 in 1 cup of bees! HELP!

  9. Re: Did a mite count, got 8-9 in 1 cup of bees! HELP!

    And what's a brood break?
  10. Re: Did a mite count, got 8-9 in 1 cup of bees! HELP!

I only saw one bee with messed up wings. It's not the whole hive.
  11. Re: Did a mite count, got 8-9 in 1 cup of bees! HELP!

Ok thanks. I think I'm going to use Hop Guard so it's not too rough on my brood.

I've noticed in beekeeping there are many different methods to achieve the same result. Some however work better...
  12. Re: Did a mite count, got 8-9 in 1 cup of bees! HELP!

Ok! Do you guys glove up when messing with this stuff?
  13. Re: Did a mite count, got 8-9 in 1 cup of bees! HELP!

It's 74 degrees here. Is that too hot to apply MAQS?
  14. Re: Did a mite count, got 8-9 in 1 cup of bees! HELP!

Oh yeah. What the heck is MAQS?
  15. Re: Did a mite count, got 8-9 in 1 cup of bees! HELP!

Sorry for not responding. I wasn't getting notifications. Fixed that. Anyhow the bee inspector said it was time to treat due to deformed wing virus and recommended hopsguard. Said it was safe for use...
  16. Did a mite count, got 8-9 in 1 cup of bees! HELP!

    Re: Colorado Bee vac

This looks like a great alternative to the Owens Bee Vac. We are currently using the owens and have notice some flaws in his design...the trapdoor you put the hose in tends to get bees caught in it...

Re: How do you process cutout comb?

Barry, I totally agree with your caution regarding cutout honey being contaminated however this house was vacant for a year and they came during that time so I'm sure they've never been exposed.

How do you process cutout comb?

    Hey guys/gals!

I was curious about how you harvest honey from a cutout...I'm thinking its done the same way a top bar hive is performed by either bottling whole comb or crushing..I was just trying...

Has there been any new development in this situation? I heard from a reputable source that it has been dropped and that any beekeeper can do removals.
