    Re: no honey yet

No honey since hiving in mid June? There's nectar.... just not capped right? Is there a decent flow on there?
Once a flow is on, there is no need to feed. Myself, I don't feed at all. I picked up a...

    Re: Adding second honey super

I put a new drawn comb super underneath. Most of my bees like the bottom entrance, so they will pass through the empty super before they get to the mostly full one.
It also makes it much easier to...
  3. Re: cut in floor and wall what do with honey please advise

That's why I advocate the use of a few nucs in any apiary. The immediate availability of queens, brood, stores is invaluable. My advice..... intro a nuc queen and allow the nuc to make one. Or, you...
  4. Re: Notches and holes... Does it really matter?

I happen to run mine down all year. I haven't had a problem yet. Although I do widen the notch to 1 1/2" wide for better ventillation.
  5. Re: cut in floor and wall what do with honey please advise

Cut out honey is illegal to sell. It must come from an actual hive body. That being said, you could feed the honey back to the bees then extract and sell. The bees will filter the honey for you....

  15. Re: Treatment Free Successes and Failures in a Cold Climate Zone

We border between 4 and 3.
The way I look at it, feral hives survive just fine in these climates with absolutely no human intervention. Why? Who knows.... but they do.
    Thanks to feral hives, I...

I've seen one used like that a while back. Can't remember where though. It's a great idea to repurpose an old cooler.

    Re: DC Chimney Problem

Vacuum with a bee vac, remove the comb. Vac some more. At the very end of the removal, smoke from below...... vac some more.
I have this same scenario in a couple of weeks.
