    Re: Barrel Settling Tank

How about a 55gal food grade plastic barrel, like a big 5 gal bottling bucket and easier to drill the hole.

    Re: Old Sol Apiaries?

Nothing but the best to say about John and his queens. Good queens and good service. I drove 6 hours one way to buy some of his queens. Oh yeah, I went fishing too. :D

    Re: Mating queens

I use Michael Palmer's 8 day method doubled, starts every 4 days, 5 sets of nucs gives me a 20 day rotation, just 1 day short of Mr. Lyon's 3 weeks.

Re: Using house bees in a starter??

If you have enough bees and food it should work fine for 20 cells. I think I would graft 30 some wont make it and if you get more than 20 you have some to play with. Give it a go.

    Re: uncapping for 100 hives

I have one and it works great. Mine is homemade with Kelly parts. The blade is about 3 ft high. I don't use the motor to make it vibrate anymore, it's too loud and it works just as good without...
  12. Re: Jostled a queen frame with 2 ages of bars

No, not to worry, they will be ok. It's true you should be easy with the cells, but they will take more than you think at 10 days after grafting and a lot at 2 days.

    Re: Rate this bar please

Oh well ,spilt milk:(, think of it as grafting practice. I have done what Joseph and Mark said many times, you can even open a cell and put it back together and it will still work, lots to learn....

    Re: Rate this bar please

Well, for a bar I'd say the music stinks. But it looks like you will get about 12 good cells. Might bee a little short, but plenty good.
