    Re: Digital Refractometers?

    Thanks.
I did some more reading to better understand the topic. There are lots of varibles that can influence results.
I'm probably over complicating something that should work well enough for...

Re: USPS FAILS at delivering queens

Not to pile on but why did you originally order from Ohio?
    Convenience? Genetic? Availability?

I'd love to see the packaging method that was used once they arrive.
    I've heard that it isn't...

    Re: Digital Refractometers?

That link was actual one I looked over, lots of science behind what may seem to some to be fairly simple problem at first glance (me)!

Maybe AstroBee could make it simpler for us?

    How long...

    Re: Funny looking Queen

I still have drones (they are actually increasing in #'s a bit now) and should have a bit of fall flow so I'll continue to raise some queens.

I have limited experience keeping bees and none of it...

    Re: Funny looking Queen

    Original?
If you mean the queen that came with the swarm-kill her.
If you mean the other queen in 10F I just put her in a different Nuc.

Yes each side will get a new cell.

Actually, the timing couldn't of been better I'll have cells ready Saturday. I'll go though and smash any cells they made and give them a new cell. I pulled the queen from the other side so they...

    Re: Funny looking Queen

I had a swarm move into the empty side of a divided 10F deep. She is of unknown origin so you know the drill. I'll sell her to Ace (if legal) but I've got to raise my price she is in the same jar of...

    Re: mold in the extractor

Bleach is not the best choice to sanitize stainless steel. It reacts with the metal and can cause pitting and corrosion.

I'm not going to list any of the many ways to effectively sanitize...

    Re: Black bees

I see a few if I open feed or put out supers to clean up. It makes me wonder because I rarely see any even close to that color in my hives.
I'll try to get a photo.

It couldn't be! Have you seen the price of Apivar?
Apivar is 3% active ingredient I think mites would develop resistance to 3% amitraz over time.
