Nevermind on the pollen trap, I found one of those for 8-frame hives.
Shotguns were made for people like that... just sayin'
What are the options for comb honey systems (ross rounds, bee-o-pac, etc) are there for the beekeeper that has moved to 8-frame hives? Also, does anyone make a pollen trap that fits 8-frame hives?
Sue him for defamation and filing a false report, that should shut him up pretty quick.
The March 5th meeting for KCBA will not be held at the normal meeting place due to that location being used for voting. Instead we will be meeting at the First United Methodist Church on Kingston...
This is just my two cent's worth and I'm just becomming a real sideliner this year, so take it with a grain of salt, but I imagine the odds of finding stolen hives/equipment is slim to none, so...
This year I'm making the move from avid hobbyist to full on sideliner (you can stop laughing at me now, lol), but I'm a little confused as to what taxes might apply, and I figure you commercial beeks...
I don't know, but if I were those bees I'd be worried about their fate once regeime change occurs. I doubt the next president will be willing to allow them to stay.
I'm thinking that there aren't that many queen breeders or queens being produced these days, so it can't be 3-4 times a year, I just don't see where all the queens would be coming from. So I'm gonna...
Alright, I posted a poll, unfortunately the poll only allows me to have 10 options and I had 20 suggestions, so I started with the people that had been mentioned multiple times or that I recognized. ...
A whole lot of different answers so far. But I'm seeing a couple of names mentioned multiple times. I think I'm going to do another thread with a poll in it once I compile a longer list of names to...
As we begin planning for the upcomming year for our local association, I thought I'd ask who the best speakers are in the country in other people's opinion. Did you attend a meeting or talk where...
Feeding them. They won't draw it out unless A: they need it, B: they have food coming into the hive, and C: the weather is warm enough.
You can't do anything about the weather, but you can make...
Do you sell out before the next harvest? If so, then you should probably raise the price... determine how much to raise the price by how long between the time you sell out and the time of next...
According to the book "Beekeeping for fun and profit", they do that to clean the woodenware.
What guage nails are you trying to use? I use 18 guage inch and a half nails for the frames. They do fine, the only trick is to make sure you're holding the nail gun straight with the end bar.
I...
Sounds like a scam to me... 15# of bees, what's that worth? A lot I bet. I think you're just being scammed to tell you the truth. The fact that he turned down the buyback offer tells me there's a...
I wouldn't take $12 a qt... I sell my quarts for $20, and I'm always sold out by winter... and I don't live in a tourist area. Of course, I only produce a few cases of quarts, but still... $12 is...
Freezing is done to kill off any young wax moth larva I assume... though, once set out in the swarm trap, if wax moths are interrested in it, they'll find it in the swarm trap and go to town on it. ...
The first year I posted honey sales on facebook I sold out in less than 3 months.
Lid crack,
Patty whack,
Listen to their tone,
Then this old man is going home.
:lpf:
That has to suck. My condolences.
How exactly does a queen bank work?
wdcrkapry205, that's great if you're willing to wait for a honey flow to let them draw them out and don't mind the loss of production waiting for them to draw comb so they can work nectar into honey....
I use the unwaxed plasticell and it works great. I actually had more trouble out of the waxed plasticell than I do with the unwaxed plasticell. If I want it drawn out quickly, a quick spray with...
