    I did not say it was not a mess. But they are reusable for the more frugal among us. And if the holes are small and you wear latex gloves its not too much of a mess. Take it or leave it. Its ok by me.

    Put a 2x4 inside the bag, poke holes in the center of the bag, remove the 2x4, submerge the bag in a bucket of sugar water, with the ziplock slightly open and let fill, close ziplock, turn the bag...

    When you replace the four frames do not put them all in the middle of brood. Maybe just one in the brood nest with others to either side, or both sides.

    Yeah that screen is way too small. Needs to be about 4" out from the entrance on each side. Or better yet a vertical opening about 5 or 6" inches above the opening.

    I have had bees two years and an extractor for one. My foundationless mediums extract fine with no wires. No need to crush and strain, although you can. And in western KY we say whomperjawed:)

    The screen one is what I use, except I only open 1" or so at the top. I got 8 stitches from my tablesaw this spring so these let me avoid that.
