    Re: Starter Hive Question

I would just add that moving nucs into places where other hives were, to gain the foragers works well until fall and a dearth. Then it's iffy at best whether they fight to the end or not... Just a...

    Re: Cage fight!

I don't think the queens were in a cage fight, but since the other queen was there, I'm thinking they didn't feed the queen in the cage... But your right, it's never dull! Good luck with the rest of...

    Re: Very light honey-marketing?

I'd just mix a little until you get the color and flavor that they are looking for. Most of the time it's 50/50 with folks looking for light vs. dark.

    Re: Selective Breeding

Many II queens have a wing clipped, and an entrance excluded before and after the second CO2 treatment to help keep the potential for open mating from occurring. It potentially could happen, but...

Re: Making queens when to in full flow

I have to ask why would you want more of those by making more queens??? I would find some nice, gentle, stock to work with reproducing before I would go with what you describe.

    Re: Super mini beehive

Challenger: "M Bush and I are huge proponents of 5 frame nucs".- Seems you just told us you did 8-10 3 frame mating nucs in another thread. Seems to be a little misunderstanding... But good luck,

Re: Let me know if I did it right please!

It's not that they will have prospered or fizzled, but that they would have gone about their business more efficiently if you left the brood frames together, so yeah, prosper is the word. If I were...

Re: IPM board in or out?

MB I like the board out as soon as it warms up and as soon as the colony is in the 2nd deep hive body. Mine don't care for the open bottom when they are in only one deep and have absconded at some...

Nicely done. What are you doing or did do as far as the tests for mite loads?

P.S. Both batches of queens looked great! Thanks for the help with our project.
