Would one of you explain why? Both scenarios involve raising a queen from an egg when they weren't planning on it. Why does Vance's method work better than TheBuzz?

I extracted for the first time Saturday. I think I want to try to use 9 frames next year. My intention is to get the comb to stick out more so I can better use the hot knife.
What is your...
Opinions please.
I want to extract Saturday morning. When should I install my be escapes? Should I be concerned about the bee-less supers sitting in 100 degree heat?
thanks
Thanks for all of the replies. You've been very helpful.
I have a related question. Mann Lake sells a handy little tool for inserting the eyelets. It is "unfinished". It looks like it needs to...
Joseph,
Why? Seriously. Is it because you got tired of failures? It seems like overkill, but I'm sure you have a reason?
I had the same thought. I've got the divided top feeder from Mann Lake. I thought about putting one side sugar water and the other side regular water.
Anyone have an opinion on this?
I'll show my ignorance here...
A staple is, well, like a staple, but a brad is more like a nail? Do you use them interchangeably?
I heard someone say that you only use the nails to hold it...
Anyone who posts a question that is covered in a previous thread is "lazy"? Ad hominem much?
You're a hoot.
Thanks for the replies. I don't know much about power tools. Do I want a "Narrow Crown" stapler?
Was it really easier to type a sarcastic reply rather than ignore my post?
Assembling frames with a hammer was a lot of fun..for the first few hundred.
I think I'm ready to graduate to a nail or staple gun. What kind do you use? Do you use nails or staples? Do you use...
I've had a hive melt, but it was with a solid bottom board.

I heard someone say (maybe on this forum) that they leave the reducer on year around because beehives you find in the wild usually have an entrance about the size of the entrance with a reducer.

Any chance you have a picture of the installed stirrer stick?
I did check. No swarm cells. This is the donor hive from a split I did a few weeks ago.
Maybe this is it? I'm still having trouble getting my hands around the "flow". I'm not yet confident...
My top deep was mostly honey, even in the center frames. Why have they stopped using this for brood? Is it because they ran out of room for honey storage? I added a honey super because the frames...
What did you say about wedge frames and foundationless? Break the wedge off and....
I had a problem with the install. I was out of town. A buddy of mine put the package in my garage and somewhere along the way there was a 3" gash in the screen. I lost LOTS of bees. I think some...
Will the new bees not be hostile to the old bees and the queen?
I had some trouble with a package install on April 28. I'm down to less than a fistful of bees, but I know I still have a queen.
1. Do you think it's time to cut bait on the package?
2. How...
I've had bees draw burr comb under my hive top feeder on new packages that weren't out of room. I put my inner cover under the hivetop feeder to help reduce the extra space. I still get some burr...
Long story...A friend picked up the package for me because i was out of town. The package set in my garage for a day. Somewhere along the way a 2-3" gash was put in the side. Lots of bees escaped.
they looked to be all on the bottom of the cell.
Does it have to mean a laying worker? i have a package that is two weeks old. I had a problem hiving the package and the bee count is very very low. I saw as many as 5 eggs in a single cell. I...
Make sure you give them room to breathe when it gets really hot.
