    Re: Warning to the wise

To have 1 hive but 11K posts in 4 years? Something is clearly missing. I ran across Mr. Bird on another beekeeping website where he eventually left because he'd earned enough enemies with his...

    Re: Warning to the wise

All this from Vance G noting that his hives were light in honey stores and trying to warn others. By the way, thanks Vance.

    Re: Overturn truck Seattle

At first glance I don't even know where I'd start. Assuming they were in double deeps you've got a +/-50% chance you'll have a queen right hive when you put them together. A +/-25% chance your...

    Re: 1st swarm

Congratulations! The first one is the scariest and most exciting. With that said, it doesn't get old and I'm chomping at the bit for my first swarm call of 2015. Next time try putting a frame of...

She may be swarmy being that seasoned. But, if you're lucky or can do grafts you can get some of her daughters.

Re: The Slovenian Beehive Arrives in the US

Very cool. I always liked the way those looked. The author appears to be about to try it. It'll be interesting to see his actual set up and what he thinks of it once he it get's going.

    Re: swarm capture and disease

Worried about being disease free? I don't care, I'm not looking a gift horse in the mouth. I've captured plenty of swarms and on rare occasion there are virgin queen mating flight issues. You...

Normally yes. FYI, going with 2 different types of hives will create challenges if you need to swap brood due to a queen failure.

Re: Where have all the hive tools gone?

$24 and I've got to handle my smart phone, invariably with honey and propolis all over my fingers. I like the idea, but it's not for me.

Clumped outside on something separate and unrelated to their actual hive? That's a swarm in my books no matter the shape. I find the shape can get a little odd if the queen landed on one portion of...

Re: Has Seed Coating Changed? CCD gone for Good!
