Swarming has been a problem for my TBHs too (in N. Ill). Even the first year with new packages, they swarmed. Then I went to 48" long TBHs.
This Spring, still had lots of swarms, but I wasn't...
Sam-Smith:
Any pictures of your frames? I just had 3 combs collapse in one of my hives due to the heat and weight. They were 3/4 full of honey, 1/2 capped, so I took them, but I'd rather leave...
But with every cell with honey, where would a queen lay?
On a top bar hive, if they place honey in what was previously brood, how does that affect the taste/quality of the honey? Remember...with...
Hives are 4' long
I have 3 top bar hives.
I was out of country for a few weeks.
Neighbors let me know several swarms while I was away.
Last weekend, I opened one hive and saw brood and found the queen.

I like the idea of an inspection checklist. But one may need seasonal checklists as well. What is done in the Spring is different than Autumn.
The theory is it wasn't the actual smaller cells that help reduce varroa. It was indirectly because the cells are smaller, the brood time in the cell is shorter, and the varroa can't take 'hold'...
Some have experience with foundationless frames reducing the varroa count. No matter the bee type/race.
Of course, there are other issues with foundationless (honey extraction is different), but...
I have 3 new hives, started in April. One did very well this summer, making loads of honey. The other two did not.
My plan was to leave the honey for them overwinter, so I wouldn't have to feed....
Our beekeeper's association had a presentation last year by a researcher/professor from a university in the MidWest who also indicated the same things posed in this article.
Sounds like there...
As others have suggested, it sounds more like input for marketing for clients:

Great site....
I will be asking questions soon...after searching of course!
