1967 What a year. Spent 4 weeks in Florida with my grandfolks only to end up prowling the beaches with a kid from the Boston area looking for girls. Learned to drive in a 58 Studebaker and loved...
They would make fine TBH. To make it even neater, cut out a hole in the side and glue in a piece of plexiglass for a viewing window. Just make sure that you have some cloth or a board to cover the...
Great trailer. Can't wait for it to hit the midwest.
Started with 2 packages in April 2007, lost them to the big freeze. Got 2 russian nucs in June and 4 established Italian hives in late Aug. Have 6 going into the winter. Its going to be a neat spring.
Thanks for the reply. One of the things that I also noticed is that the wet capped cell frames seemed to extend out further width wise. Whether this was just those frames in particular or possibly...
I saw somewhere a thread about the difference between wet and dry cappings over the honey. When we extracted some honey this year we had both types, sometimes in the same super.
What is the...
I started out without a mentor but after a couple of meetings of the Eastern Missouri Beekeepers group in St Louis I felt comfortable enough to ask a couple of the people questions. The mentoring...
Joe,
You mentioned that you take 1 of 3 supers when harvesting. Do you leave the other 2 on the hives for winter or take them off and put back on in the spring? I have 4 hives that I obtained from...
We started out with 2 packages which were promptly lost with the heavy freeze in April. I was able to get 2 nucs of Russians in mid June which are doing OK and should be ready for Winter. Got 4 full...
Wonderful program. It should reach a large audience with a lot of information.

There was a picture shown around the Eastern Missouri Beekeepers meeting a few weeks ago showing a member that had just shot a bear that had taken out 4 of his hives near Salem, Missouri in the south...
Super tool. Many thanks.
"Ok, I don't have a clue (well maybe I do) of what the girls are doing.
It looked like they were grooming each other at the entrance. "
Sure looks like it to me, although I am new this year. You...
Just curious, what about all of the lady keepers? Do their husbands speak to them about messing up the kitchen?
Mike, you mentioned putting it into the hive in the spring for the bees to gathers dry. Do you just put it onto the top of the inner cover or dust over the top of the frames? What has worked the best...
The foundations are the Duragilt. The original 5 frames from the nuc appear to be wax only.
I had read that spraying or brushing on sugar syrup would help them draw, any truth to this?
One other...
Thanks for the reply and help. Patience is something that I am learning everyday with the girls. For any other reason to keep bees this is one of the best! I look forward to when my grand daughter...
I am a first year keeper with 2 colonies of Russian from nucs in early June. The strongest of the two hives has just begun to draw out some comb on Dadant foundation (very little). Both hives are...
