Try flushing the surface with vinegar, then covering with baking soda. There are commercial cleaning agents that propose to neutralize the "vomit" smell. Schools use them regularly. Bleah.
Just be...

Might I suggest that this thread be converted into its own forum? Possibly organized by state, it could be a useful tool for passing the word about swarms or cut-outs, especially if...
We use wax/sawdust rolled in newspaper for "firestarters" works great, easy to make
Label it as "WYOMING HONEY: Natural Perfect" all true, no deception.
Maybe you have a new breed . . . . . Corni!
You could just have someone vomit on you, too. Still sounds silly.
Checked again for a queen . . . . couldn't find one. Found a supplier for a local queen and put her in this morning. About 15 - 20 bees were on the cage IMMEDIATELY! Didn't seem to be aggressive or...
Thanks. This is an "only hive" so they'll have to manage on their own. I'll check in another week or so to see if there's any comb drawn and maybe some eggs. Might be able to re-queen if not, I...
I had a colony of bees under the house in Michigan. Managed to get four partial frames loaded (rubber bands holding cut out comb) into a new deep. They seem to be content working out of their new...
My two little hives . . . . 2382
One of my queens is doing the same thing. I thought she was just good at math and was counting off cells . . . . :D
Well, did the cut out. It was about the size of a volleyball between joists and above an I-beam, but still accessible. Cut out comb and put them in frames as best I could. Then let the box sit for a...
Oh yeah, forgot to list that part. Already have a new roll of duct tape . . . . thnx!
Hey group
I have a modular home with a new colony of bees underneath, been there for 2 months or so. They're going in just above the concrete blocks and are below the house, above the plastic...
<<Once the drones hatch you can move the frames up into the super and they will probably fill them with honey. >>
They are in the "honey" super (first one above dbl brood deeps). Seems like they...
If I freeze them and replace the frame will the workers clean out the larvae?
Hi all
Started two packages, doing well, was inspected and are healthy. Just for fun, I used three empty frames interspersed between my foundation frames in a medium super. I told the girls they...
If knotweed is similar to "knapweed" it makes a fairly strong honey.
One of my hives has a queen who cannot retract one wing, i.e. one wing lays flat and the other sticks out. Neither wing seems deformed. She is also starting to lay a less than full pattern. Is the...
Looks like fun!
I'd like to comment on the family project.... I've been a public school teacher for 35 years and have seen a lot of families and children. You've given your kids a most important...
Try easing them off the frame with a long feather (turkey works well). They don't seem to mind as much as being whacked with a broom. Go figure!
Thanks
Most of it, yes. Helps to date the art teacher!
Bees very busy today, both hives holding "Orienting" classes!

Thanks for the help, guys. I'm already going to be pulling a trailer with room for the two hives, so moving two hives isn't too much trouble for a "hobbyist". I make the trip in about 14 hours, gas...
