  1. Re: Average haul from a hive in northern climates?

Adrian - A few questions to clarify some things. Do you have issues with bees filling in the empty brood frames with honey? If not how are you stopping that.

  3. Re: flow is on today what plant is this

pkalisz - Really, I didn't know that. Does it produce a nectar?

Maybe I should eat the bee bread. LOL
  4. Re: How to tell if I have a laying worker or a new queen?

Are the larvae drones or workers?

If all drones you got a laying worker.

I mow past my hives with the mower less than a foot from them. Like they said, discharge aimed away and moving at highest speed. Make the closest pass and then mow the other parts of the yard. ...
  6. Re: Things I learned from my first cut-out

They do get easier with time I have found.

Try to cut the pieces of comb sized to fit the frame as you remove it. Worked ok for me.

Re: Gulf Coastal Queens from eggs/brood

So I have quite a few emergency cells built on those frames of eggs I placed in the hives last Saturday. Not sure if that is good as they supposedly do not make the best queens but I have them.

  12. Re: Did feeding/cost of feeding discourage you?

YIKES no wonder I dislike cats. :lookout:

If you feed any of the high dollars cat or dog food, you might be spending more than that.
  13. Re: Upset neighbors. Must part with or move my hives.

In the future duct/duck tape works to close openings.

Also a pint or half pint jar of that honey for each house shared through the neighborhood will build good will.
