Awesome! Couple miles from the house. Sure beats having to drive to Jefferson to buy locally.

Is it normal to have comb between the two brood boxes with larvas in it? A few of my hives have this when I split the two brood boxes for an inspection. For example, if I lift one brood box to view...
Thanks for the info guys, some great tips here. I am doing weekly inspections. Mostly because this is my first year, I have 10 hives and am super excited about the progress each one of them makes. ...
So your hive made it through the winter. The flow has started and your hives are doing great. You add a honey super. What are you looking for during your weekly inspections? Are you tearing the...
I have a couple hives that are one deep and one medium each. They are both overflowing with bees. I'm worried they will swarm if I don't give them more room, but the frames aren't full of honey. ...
Thanks for the info guys.
David they are on foundation. Going to keep pouring the feed to them :)
I installed a few packages last week and am feeding them 1:1 syrup. When do I know to stop feeding them and let them forage on their own? Does the 8,000 pollen count today have anything to do with...
Probably not the best or safest method, but I have been marking them while they are still on the frame with a yellow Uni paint pen. Has worked fine so far.
Ben,
You will get a different answer from everyone you ask. Personally, a business that is charging almost $100/hr, I would not tip. They are making good money and paying the instructor.

I started beekeeping last fall, so I'm still new to the game. I have 5 hives now that are single deep boxes. 4 of them were packages installed a week ago. Last fall I put 8 medium super frames...
I love me some mann lake, just placed a 2k+ order with them, but the feeders from Brushy Mountain with floats don't kill near as many bees as the mann lake top feeders. The baggie method kills even...
I have tried lots of them and like the hive top feeders from Brushy Mountain the best (the ones that have the floats in them). Second choice would be the baggies. The baggies definitely kill less...
Will have to try that one!
Great ideas, Thanks
Honestly, I'm new to beekeeping and wanted to check the hives and make sure the queen was ok, etc... The packages were installed not too long ago. I have read that you should inspect the hives...
I have a few hives with the brushy mountain hive top feeders with floats. To inspect the hive, I must remove the feeder (while there are hundreds of bees eating) and sit it elsewhere. When I'm done...
I installed a few packages the other day and was checking to make sure the queens got out of the cage(s) today. I picked up one of the cages from the hive, and it looked like the bees had gotten...
Thanks guys for the responses. I guess I will try some of both and see how I come out each way.
I have done lots of searching and found that some people use one deep for a brood nest, some use two deeps, some use one deep and a medium, etc...
How is it that one hive can have one deep, then...
