    Re: Im Rusty

Good point. Normally I see more cells in preps to swarm. I just split them today. Weird seeing all the drones though. That's what made me ? Myself.

    Re: What a mess, queenless?

On 3 occasions during the fall, i watched the queen fly away, most of the time she was a virgin. Only once did she not return....and actually she did, she just happened to be in an empty hive set to...
  12. Re: Suggestions for Hive Stand : One each or longer?

I use 2x6x8's and put braces every 24 inches for support. They are 18 inches wide and I hold 5 hives per. Never had an issue disturbing one while working on another. Matter of fact, i use the one...
  13. Re: Not candy boards, or candy frames, but candy patties?

Yes you can, frames are great, but not really worth the hassle IMHO. I did as above, made the candy and broke it into peices and placed above the cluster. Working great thus far!

    Re: world's tiniest swarm

I had a Russian Hive swarm and there was the queen and about 100 bees on a sighting table for guns. The guy called me in a panick. I just sprayed a little sugar water on my hand and let all of them...
  18. Re: suggestions for controlling SHB also dead bees

No, they eat the crisco, hence the boric acid being used. I went with CD case traps with 3 drops of combat Roach Gel. They die before ever leaving the case and it did wonders when i was almost...
