Re: fall flow and brood build up

I opened my hives yesterday and was rather shocked at the amount of bees and brood in all the hives! More brood than I've ever seen this time of year. The amount of pollen--many frames of pollen! ...

  3. Re: stored frames - moldy and fermented

    Re: Golden bees!

I'm not sure what they are--I believe they might be an Italian strain. They are gentle. I made 2 splits last spring from two of my hives of Buckfast Queen/Italian bees. I put the Wooten Golden...

    Re: Golden bees!

Last spring our bee club ordered some queens from California--Wooten's Golden Queens. I ordered 2. One is still alive. Talk about brood! Now we have some nice golden bees in West Virginia!

    Re: What's your favorite gadget?

Ditto on the tool box, but my favorite "gadget" is my husband who lifts all those heavy supers and deeps -- he's invaluable!

  20. Re: Hobby Beekeeper and Building Your Own Equipment

Has anyone ever put the boxes together with a Kreg jig? I have one and I love it! It makes a tight joint. My husband and I are going to try some deeps and mediums with this joint. Free wood, we...
