I made a batch of fondant today, but when it cooled it turned a golden yellow color. I think I read somewhere to not give bees carmelized sugar. Will this hurt them?

A drop of honey on a craft stick is what we do! If you have more than one kind of honey, they can turn the craft stick around for a drop on the other side.
Jeff, good point. Maybe I'll just leave the outer cover off. Don't imagine any other bees will try to rob through the stench.
I planning to remove supers next week. I have some "Honey Robber" liquid that smells horrible, but I did not purchase a fume board. I'm wondering if I can make my own in the following way:
1. ...
"Do you have any homemade honey for sale? It's so much better than store-bought!" I replied that I will have honey for sale, but that I can't take the credit for making it..the bees do it all by...
I use pine needles...have plenty for free on my property. To get things going, I use the paper that foundation is wrapped in!
I had purchased these cotton cylinders from one of the beekeeping...
Hahaha! I did the same thing on Tuesday....missed the box and dumped at least half of them on the ground. Fortunately, the queen must have made it into the box, as the bees on the ground began...
thanks...they swarmed either yesterday or today...found them up in a tree above the hive. My beekeeper friend with lots of swarm-catching gadgets came and got them down for me :)
Have tons of drone brood (one and one half frames worth) in one hive. What does this mean?
Mechanicsville, VA 23111 Swarmed 5/18 or 5/19 (partly sunny and in 70's) found them up in tree just above the hive...Beek friend came and got them down for me, so now I have 5 hives instead of 4!
One of my hives has one and 1/2 frames of nothing but drone brood. What's up with that?
We had severe thunderstorms here in central Virginia yesterday. Today is bright and sunny so around 9:30 am I attempted to work my bees. Hive #1 was very agitated and even though I was quite gentle...
One note of caution: It is my understanding that nematodes can really mess up underground vegetables: carrots, potatoes, etc. So be careful about using them near your vegetable garden!
I'm right there with Honeydreams. All 8 frame mediums for easier lifting and to keep everything interchangable.
Or maybe all top bar hives....
I wonder what kind of nectar...maybe some kind of hot pepper? I bet there are lots of people that would LOVE it!
My husband and I are a team...he puts together all of the equip. for me and I work the hives. He was all for it---he's a honey fanatic. He's interested in the hives, but doesn't like to get too...
I had a hive get nasty with me last summer...they went right for my ankles. I purchased a pair of rubber boots which I now wear under my bee suit.
Last summer, I had a bee get inside my veil. I heard it buzzing but figured it was on the outside close to my ear. Until....I felt it crawl INSIDE my ear. It went right up into my ear canal. ...
Okay, Barry...thanks for clearing up our misconceptions. I am no longer out to get the carpenter bees!
I was once told that carpenter bees eat honey bees. Maybe that was false information???? They are definitely chasing my honey bees...
Found directions for making a carpenter bee trap online:

Hopefully, our "good" bees won't take the bait and be trapped...I'm...
I have them, too. They not only harass my honey bees, they harass ME---dive bomb me, but have not stung. My beekeeping club spoke about them last year. Some kind of trap involving a soda bottle,...
Josh, they are already facing away from the mower (towards their water source---a pond). Is that what you mean by turning them around?
Bill, I have noticed that they are more aggressive when I work them, particularly one hive that swarmed last spring and made a new queen---I believe it was this hive that attacked this morning. I'm...
I have had two hives for about a year and a half now. My husband has been using his tractor to cut the grass with no issues, up until 2 weeks ago. The bees suddenly are irritated by the tractor and...
