I thought Thats what I should do but I thought it went under the top cover. Should it be like a 1/4 inch? With that in place will the bees use it as an entrance. Thanks for your reply
2342I took a few pics of my bees today. They have been great bees so far. Is this normal? I have a screened bottom board with the oil pan out. Should I switch to a regular screened bottom board?...

I've got the same issue. My hive has a good bit of drone cells. I have read and read. From what I have gathered is that a hive will lay as many drones as they need and if my hive is healthy they will...
What about my area. I'm in southern louisiana
What are you putting in your bottom tray? Are you putting vegetable oil, vinegar, lime or anything to kill them? I haven't seen the larvae in mine but I've got a lot of adults in one of the hives....
Tim my 2 week old package already has hive beetles. They seem to be dealing with them good I found six larve in my bottom tray. So if a Warre' adds to the bottom. Why couldn't a lang be done the same...
Thanks all for your input. This is my first hive so I'm in the dark for now. I think tomorrow I'll check the hive again, only the outside frames. If they have comb. I'm going to add the second...
Can you start the first one out with a narrow stip of wax coated plastic foundation glued in, or does every frame need a starter strip?
I was thinking the same thing. About two out of three post about foundationless either starts or ends with the word mess or problem. I'm rather scared to try, but would love some comb honey.
My bees have been building for two weeks now all but three frames have comb started on them. Only five are fully drawn. My 1st question is when to add my second box? 2nd question is there any harm...

Tim I don't know mich about hbh. I just wanted to say thanks for your help with the gas tank cutout(even though they all flew away). I bought a package from simpsons bees in georgia and they seem...
Its a gallon bucket with preforated lid. I think I'll just wait three days And release her. i just don't want her to fly away.
I just installed mine. No sooner than I took my jacket off I took a sting to the bicep. That fear is over!
I just installed my package I ordered from simpsons in goergia(about and hour ago). The install went good. The queen was solo in her cage with just a cork no candy. I didn't think of it at first, ...
I've been reading that aggressive bees will actually carry smb out the hive, and they do a lot better job dealing with shb and varro mites. I have a wild hive that is very aggressive, and huge. ...
