Can you tell us more about how these 3 hives have done for you? What management they require? Or any other details about their use?
Has anyone tried these frames? Other than the negative of cutting into your boxes I am curious of the actual functionality.
I was just looking up our GDD yesterday. In my area we are about 36 days behind last year and 62 days behind 2013.
The UK/EU companies seem to be using the tablets in the vaporizers already, so there must not be much issue with a lubricant. I briefly debated buying a DIY pill pounder, but after watching a...
I am looking at buying/trying oxalic acid in "tablet" form and would like feedback from anyone who has ordered and had good success with a company. A quick Google search for "oxalic acid tablet"...
Duct tape, pick your color
Until the snow turns yellow from cleansing flights, it isn't warm enough
Welcome to BS. I don't know what part of NH your in, but it isn't warming up much in my area!
Was that the temp after vaporization was done? I was under the impression that oxalic vaporized at ~312F

Some of this batch is...
Those bees will be well smoked by the time you get to your destination. Got to love the old 49cc two strokes
My hydrometer broke at the stem/bulb joint as I was taking it out of the tube the day I was starting so I don't know the exact SG reading and was going off of estimated quantities...
Corn cob smoke has been shown to be toxic to bees (in a limited research study). I would be cautious burning other corn products as well.
I pitched my first 1 gallon batch on Saturday that should be set to finish dry around 12-13%
I used 1 1/2 teaspoons of nutrient
Red Star Pasteur Champaign yeast
The ferment started out great...
Sounds neat and way over my head. There are several companies trying to make a commercial go of this same idea. Arnia in the EU and another here in the US that monitors give sound... All very cool,...
Although not a true indication in its own right, I have some hold back 2012 honey that is just now starting to crystalize. Never heated, and only screened through a stainless steel "pasta sieve".
Check it out on YouTube, lots of videos. FWIW, it didn't work well for me.
My wife is at UNH, we live in Durham

Always liked #43, call it lucky, call it superstitious, it just seems to be a good number for me
I don't know, it looks like propolis might be helping to hold your wallet together...
