Hard to tell do the math and take a quick peek for eggs 15-20 days after you guess her day of emergence.
I put them in the 4th or 7th spot but I don't really have a clue what I'm doing. Bees draw them out and fill with drones of honey based on need.
Never had luck smashing cells, IMO they've already made up thier mind. Let them sort it out

How are the bees looking in the groves so far?
I've got a few and they fit nicely with 9 plastic frames. The bees take the syrup too fast for my use. I feed to stimulate more than put on weight.
Fire ants don't cause problem with my hives it seems like every other ant does!
I'm sure there will be other suggestions but short of chemical/pesticide application nothing is really effective...

I know some beekeepers in Florida use only scrap paraffin or paraffin and Cu Nap and have for years. I've got a few used boxes that I'm fairly sure where done this way and I'd guess they are around...
