    Re: Goldenrod?

I haven't seen one yellow bloom in AL yet. Seems strange to me that it blooms earlier up north than down south. I guess it's a different strain.
  2. Re: Sunlight or heat causing honey to taste bad?

Not sure about exposing it to sunlight that's why I asked the question.

No it didn't ferment. The honey in the bucket is fine. The honey in the jar came from that bucket, last year.
  3. Sunlight or heat causing honey to taste bad?

I had a gallon of honey in a bucket and one jar of honey left from last year. It was crystalized. More like concrete than honey. I put it out on the railing of our back deck for a few days to...

Hey Tenbears, can I come deer hunting with you? :D
  6. Re: I've always heard that local honey is good for allergies, but....?

I have a horrible time with allergies to all things that bloom. It's particularly hard on me since I farm on the side. I have eaten locally grown honey for many years and it just doesn't do much to...

I'm not a doctor and don't pretend to be one, but you have a really bad attitude. The doctor that I go to always seems anxious to talk to me about what I've tried with bee stings. He's seems...

    Re: Is this normal?

clyderoad, you're right. When it snows down here, it's mass chaos.

Hey, it got down in the teens several times last winter. Our 2 acre pond nearly froze completely over. :D
  9. Re: Typical compensation for extracting someone elses honey?

To me, I guess it would depend on how many supers were involved. That's a whole lot of mess to make for a super or two.

    Re: Is this normal?

65 degrees at 845pm, my bees would probably be clustered. :)

You folks up north tickle me. How high was the humidity? 40% :D

Gonna be 100 here tomorrow. Dew point will be 70-72. I think...

Re: Setting up a "seeding" hive?

The bees that I have, came from survival stock trapped or cut out of a tree in 1997. They have never been treated for anything. I got started 3 springs ago with them.

    Solomon, why do you...

    Re: Frames question

When I had hair and paid to get it cut, my barber kept his combs in a jar full of green liquid. I bet he never replaced them.

    Re: Frames question

They use old dark combs for brood in my boxes all the time. Old is a relative term. It doesn't take long for the comb to get dark. My oldest frames are 4 years old but they use them for brood.

    using rough sawn lumber

I finally found a good source for reasonably priced rough cut lumber. How long should the wood be cut and stickered before I use it to build hives with? If I get it cut this summer can I use it...
