    Re: Incredibly aggressive bees

If this was a "package" of bees, the new generation from the current queen is now in charge accounting for the lack of aggression earlier. Size of colony can cause defensiveness, when it's only a few...

    Re: Should I combine

I don't know that I have advice, just something that I consider in this situation. What is the mite count for the weak colony? It would be a shame to add a bunch of varroa to your new swarm.

Re: Join 2 week hives or not...

I have had luck in situations like this by reducing the hive down to a 5 frame box. Less space to deal with. They seem to gain more traction in smaller equipment, but I'm a long way from Montana. ...

I see that color pollen coming from asparagus fern. Don't know if that grows where you are.

    Re: I am so conflicted

For me it was asparagus fern. Fairly invasive, but doesn't sound as bad as the bind weed. Anyway bees like it I hate it.

    Hogan Trap Out question

I have used the Hogan method before. What I want to know is if anyone has ever just set up the whole thing in one go. Put the base, the hive body and bee escape on all at once instead of one piece...

Re: Trap out or cut out?

If you are comfortable using a chainsaw, my vote is for the cut-out. Log cut outs are usually difficult because you can't see where the colony is exactly, but on this one you can already see the...
